The Process
Wedding planning and decision-making can be overwhelming, I know this firsthand, so I've streamlined my booking process to help you develop or clarify your vision for your painting, select the perfect canvas size for your space, and book your date quickly and without hassle.
I also understand that you may have tons of questions about my process as a live wedding painter, and I am delighted to answer them. As a wedding painter the most common question I am asked is, " How much does a live wedding painting cost?"
The answer is: It varies.

I paint with a relatively realistic style. The figures in my paintings are drawn with near perfect proportions, from the dimples on their cheeks down to the lace detail in the bride's gown. This is what makes my wedding paintings different from most. From the moment I arrive at the venue up until the specific scene you choose, I will take as many pictures as possible and study the room, environment & atmosphere. I notice all the details that you spent months obsessing over, and I make sure to include each piece.
With this attention to detail, I will work closely with you, hand-selecting the recognizable people I will add in the painting before the wedding day. If you request a more abstract style, I am happy to accommodate every request!
I will arrive to the venue 2 hours before the wedding starts to set up & start sketching the room and getting the background of the piece laid out. I will work for an additional 4 hours on site, getting as much done as possible! I will then bring the painting back to my studio & add in all the fine details & Glaze which adds depth to the colors, sealing them and protecting the piece from UV rays and yellowing overtime. When it's complete I will ship it to you!
(Note: I also teach art full time, it will likely be 4-6 months before the piece is complete. I promise it will be worth the wait!)

I work independently, and do not have back-ups or other artists to provide when I am booked for a certain date. Your first move should be to confirm availability on your date as soon as possible. If I am unavailable for your date, I can create a painting of your wedding or reception scene using your professional photographs as reference.
Of course! Your painting will reflect your vision, and include exactly you want. We will discuss this list ahead of time, and you will assign someone (usually your wedding planner or a family member) to point out your chosen guests to me during the reception. I bring the painting back to my studio after the wedding to do some finishing touches, and if someone was left out, they can be added in during that time.
My setup is minimal and usually does not require assistance from event staff. I supply my own portable easel. Your site only needs to arrange for a small painting area in advance of my arrival, which need not take up more than approximately 4′ X 6′, indoors or outdoors. The site also needs to have a nearby power outlet for my lamp. Also, I will need to set up in a spot that gives me a good view of the scene I will be painting.
Once we confirm that I am available for your date, we will schedule an initial introductory meeting, either via phone call or email. Then I will create a custom proposal for you based on the information gathered during our first meeting. You will be given a few options, and once you choose your proposal, I will send you a contract and invoice for a retainer of $100. A signed contract and completed retainer payment will secure your date on my calendar.
I am based in Natchitoches, La, and travel throughout the country. Travel costs will be included in your proposal and will include compensation for airfare or mileage, hotel accommodations 1+ hours from my studio. If it is required that I ship the painting back to the studio to complete, then shipping + handling and insurance will also be added to you proposal.
Depending on size and detail of your painting, the completion times will vary. Depending on the time of year, and number of hours spent on touch-ups in the studio, your live painting will be made available 4-6 months after the event. During busier times of year, like the month before Christmas, your painting may take a bit longer to finish. You will be informed when your painting is finished, and it can be picked up locally or shipped directly to your front door.
